Does Drew Peterson even know 805 people?
Whether friend or foe, the Will County State's Attorney's Office has gathered that many names as potential witnesses to testify in Peterson's trial for the murder of his third wife, Kathleen Savio.
Saying Peterson's attorneys were attempting to simplify disclosure evidence into "CliffsNotes," prosecutors thwarted a bid by the defense team Thursday that would help the accused wife-killer's lawyers more easily navigate the thousands of pages of discovery evidence.
The judge ruled, also, that the prosecution will have to pare its 805-witness list down to the 50 most likely to testify.
The Herald News reported that much of the initial disclosure of evidence is expected by July 10, when Peterson will next be called to court. His trial is scheduled to begin Aug. 24.
