A 31-year-old pregnant mother and her 20-month-old daughter who was pushing her baby doll in a toy stroller became victims of an armed robbery Sunday morning, police said.
The man who police said was armed with a gun demanded the woman’s purse near the intersection of Huron and Leavitt in West Town just before 10 a.m.
Police said the man took off in a black sedan. He was described as 30-40 years old and at least 6'1”.
Residents said they spotted detectives in the neighborhood on Monday retrieving surveillance video for any clues. They also say they are fearful to walk outside in broad daylight.
“This is a family neighborhood,” said neighbor Jessica King. “That is just extremely frightening.”
