Woman Calls Cops After 7 Pounds of Pot Mailed to Her North Side Apartment

Chicago police are investigating after a package containing seven pounds of pot was discovered at the front door of a North Side apartment Wednesday.

A 25-year-old woman called police after she found the package, which police said smelled like marijuana, at her front door in the 400 block of West Aldine Avenue in the East Lakeview neighborhood about 7:04 p.m.

The Chicago Tribune reported the package came from California. It had her name and an old address on it, the newspaper wrote. She asked the paper not to be identified.

“The officer was kind of like, OK, I’m going to take this,’’ she told the paper with a laugh.

Police said the drugs were inventoried and an investigation continues.

“I wasn’t expecting any mail,’’ the woman told the Tribune. “It was extremely odd.’’
