Get excited, cake shake fans. Portillo's is opening a new location in the northern suburbs by the end of the year.
The restaurant will be located in Deerfield, on the northwest corner of Lake Cook Rd. and Deer Lake Rd., according to a release.
“Portillo’s has been looking to open in Deerfield for a while. We found a great location and we have the full support of the city of Deerfield,” Portillo’s CEO Keith Kinsey said in a statement. “We’re looking forward to starting the construction process, hiring a great team, and opening soon.”
The Deerfield Portillo's will be 9,000 square feet, with two drive-thru lanes, seasonal outdoor seating. The Oak Brook-based chain also said the restaurant, set to open in late 2016, plans on selling beer at the new location.
The restaurant will be 1970s-themed, the second location with this theme after the Homewood location opened in Sept. 2015.
