According to a new Reboot Illinois/We Ask America poll released Wednesday, nearly 40 percent of Illinois voters wish they had a different presidential candidate.
The survey’s respondents were asked to agree or disagree with the statement, “I wish someone else were my party’s nominee." 38 percent of the poll’s respondents agreed with the statement, saying they would prefer a candidate other than Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, Republican nominee Donald Trump, Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson or Green Party candidate Jill Stein. 50 percent of those polled agreed with the statement and 12 percent said they were undecided about wanting another nominee.
Additionally, the poll found that over 51 percent of respondents supported Clinton and nearly 33 percent backed Trump. Johnson received over 4 percent of the vote and Stein received over 1 percent, while over 10 percent of those polled were undecided.
The poll, which was conducted Monday by We Ask America, surveyed 955 registered voters using automated calls to landlines and live interview calls to cell phones. 40 percent of responses came from cell phone calls. The poll’s margin of error is 3.17 percent.
