Police Warn Residents After Cars Damaged by Gunfire in Chicago

Police are warning residents after cars in numerous Chicago neighborhoods have been damaged by gunfire.

In a community alert Tuesday, police warned of at least seven incidents that have taken place in the Lincoln Square and Ravenswood areas over a little more than a week.

“During these incidents an unknown offender fired shots from an unknown firearm which caused broken windows and damage to parked vehicles,” the alert states.

The alert said the shootings have taken place at the following locations:

  • 4 incidents- 2500 Block of West Wilson on July 10 from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m.
  • 1 incident- 2600 Block of West Sunnyside on July 13 from 1:06 a.m. to 5:45
  • a.m.
  • 2 incidents- 2600 Block of West Eastwood on July 18 at 3:03 a.m.

Residents in the city’s West Town neighborhood have also been reporting similar scenes.

Several in the neighborhood said rapid gunfire was heard around 11:30 p.m. last Tuesday, damaging several vehicles in the area.
