Police Warn of Wheels Stolen From Vehicles on Chicago's Northwest Side

In each theft, someone stripped wheels from Honda Accords

Chicago police are warning residents on Chicago’s Northwest Side after wheels were stolen from multiple vehicles parked along the street overnight, officials said.

In each theft, someone stripped wheels from Honda Accords, Chicago police said.

Two thefts happened between 6 p.m. Aug. 6 and 7:38 p.m. Aug. 7, police said. One was reported in the 5100 block of West Newport Avenue in the Portage Park neighborhood, and the other happened in the 5600 block of North Linder Avenue in Jefferson Park.

The third took place between 10:30 a.m. Aug. 12 and 1 a.m. Aug. 13 in the 5900 block of North Navarre Avenue in Norwood Park, police said.

One homeowner, who is a police officer, said he found his car hoisted on paver bricks, and all four tires and hubcaps were gone.

“It’s a tough pill to swallow,” he said. “You go to work everyday, trying to protect everyone, whether it be their personal property, their lives, their safety, then you come home to your own neighborhood, and you’re a crime victim. It's a very unsettling feeling."

A description of any suspects was not immediately available.

Anyone with information on the thefts is asked to call Area North detectives at 312-744-8263.
