Police Warn of Violent Robberies in South Loop

In all of the incidents a male offender attacked a female victim from behind as they walked on a public street, police said

Police warned residents of the South Loop after a string of violent robberies against female victims in the neighborhood that occurred in the month of January.

In all of the incidents a male offender attacked a female victim from behind as they walked on a public street, police said.

The attackers then pushed or punched the women to the ground before stealing their purse or cell phone, according to a community alert.

The robberies occurred at the following times and locations:

- 1500 Block of South Wabash Avenue on Jan. 13 at about 9:12 p.m.
- 1500 Block of South Indiana Avenue on Jan. 16 at about 10:30 p.m.
- 1900 Block of South Indiana Avenue on Jan. 23 at about 7:28 p.m.
- 1600 Block of South Prairie Avenue on Jan. 27 at about 8:12 p.m.

Authorities reminded residents to always be aware of their surroundings and to report any suspicious activity immediately to the Area Central Bureau of Detectives at (312) 747-8384.
