Police Warn of Theft from Vehicles in Mount Greenwood

Chicago Police are warning residents of theft from unlocked vehicles in the Mount Greenwood neighborhood on the Far South Side.

At least six thefts from unlocked vehicles have happened in the neighborhood in January between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m., according to a community alert from police.

The thefts have happened:

in the 10500-10600 blocks of South Albany Avenue;
in the 10700 block of South Troy Street;
in the 11200 block of South Spaulding Avenue;
and in the 10300-10400 blocks of South Sawyer Avenue.
One witness reported seeing a 25 to 35-year-old white male with short sandy hair and a light complexion, standing 5-foot-2 and weighing 155 pounds, police said. He was seen Jan. 16 wearing a black coat and carrying a backpack and black plastic bag.
