Police Warn of Robberies at CTA Bus Stops in Chicago Lawn

Three robberies occurred along two blocks in the South Side neighborhood

Three robberies were reported at bus stops along two blocks in the South Side Chicago Lawn neighborhood between January and February, police said Sunday.

In each incident, multiple people approached someone, then demanded or grabbed their belongings, Area Central detectives said in a community alert.

The robberies happened in the following blocks:

     -- 6900 block of South Western Avenue at 9:20 p.m. on Jan. 2;

     -- 6900 block of South Western Avenue at 5:15 p.m. on Jan. 13;

     -- 6800 block of South Western Avenue at 4 p.m. on Feb. 4.

There is no specific description of the suspects except that they are black males of various builds and between 16 and 24 years old. In the Jan. 13 robbery, one of the robbers was described as 6-foot-1, weighing 180 pounds with a birth mark on his face, police said.
