Police Warn of Magnificent Mile Robberies

Earlier this week police issued an alert to stories about an increase in high-end retail thefts

Two men walked into the Chanel store and snatched several handbags valued at least $15,000 before escaping in a white minivan Wednesday, police said.

Police were on the scene shortly after 10:30 a.m. this morning where the robbery happened in the 900 block of North Michigan Avenue.

Earlier this week police issued an alert to stories about an increase in high-end retail thefts during the month of July. There have been several robberies in the 100 block of East Grand Avenue and East Oak Street.

Police say the offenders have entered retail stories, grabbed expensive purses from the shelves and fled. Police also said the robberies usually involve between two and four people, male and female, and they usually strike in broad daylight.

Police say they have no suspects in custody.
