Police Warn of Armed Robberies in West Garfield Park

Police are warning residents of three recent armed robberies in the West Garfield Park neighborhood.

In each incident, the suspect used force or the threat of force by showing a handgun and then stole the victims’ cellphones, wallet and credit cards, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.

The robberies happened:

- about 6:40 p.m. Sept. 21 in the 3900 block of West Congress
- about 11:45 a.m. Sept. 28 in the 3900 block of West Gladys
- about noon Oct. 2 in the 3900 block of West Arthington

The robbers are described as black men, between 18 and 29 years old, standing between 6 feet, 3 inches and 6 feet, 5 inches, and weighing between 180 and 200 pounds, police said. One suspect had dreadlocks and another had a teardrop tattoo on his face.
