Police Warn of Armed Man Robbing Women of Purses in Chicago

Police have issued a warning to residents after an armed man robbed multiple women of their purses in Chicago.

The man has approached at least three females in two separate incidents in the last week, acording to authorities. The man showed the women a silver handgun and demanded or took their purses from them.

The incidents took place at 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the 0-100 block of East Cullerton Street and at 8:40 a.m. Wednesday in the 1800 block of South Prairie Avenue.

A man was caught on camera using a victim’s credit card to purchase gas at an Econogas at 43rd and Wentworth within 15 minutes of one of the robberies, police said.

He is described as being between the ages of 21 and 25, standing between 5-foot-4 and 5-foot10 inches tall and weighing about 135 pounds. He was seen driving a champaign-colored Chevy with an Illinois handicap license plate no. 275099. The vehicle was reported stolen from Oak Park.
