A man has been charged with murder after his coworker was found dead in a car Wednesday morning in northwest Indiana.
Christopher Dillard, who works as a bouncer at a lounge in Chesterton, Indiana, was charged with murder and ordered held in Portage County Jail.
Chesterton police had opened a homicide investigation after 24-year-old Nicole Gland was found slumped over the wheel of her vehicle, parked near a dumpster, in the 100 block of Lois Lane.
Gland worked as a bartender at the same lounge Dillard was a bouncer at.
Officers responded at 9:14 a.m. to a report of an unconscious female in a vehicle behind a row of businesses in the 100 block of Lois Lane, which is an alley east of South Calumet Road, according to Chesterton police and the Chesterton Fire Department.
Detectives were called to the scene and determined a homicide had occurred, police said. The woman was found with "evident trauma wounds to the back of her neck," which were believed to be stab or puncture wounds, according to Dave Cinkowski with the Chesterton Police Department.
Dillard was arrested by Hobart police after his girlfriend noticed a knife missing from their butcher block and suspected he may have been involved, Cinkowski said.

Dillard allegedly told authorities he was delivering drugs to Gland the night before she was found dead. He admitted that while dropping off the controlled substances in her vehicle while she worked, he stayed in her car to consume some for himself, according to authorities. After that, he told police details were hazy because he "had been partying rough."
Dillard's girlfriend told authorities he called her at one point and said "I really f---ed up. I don't know you'll take back."
He later admitted to her in a recorded conversation that he "killed that girl," police alleged at a press conference Friday.
Police say they are still looking into other persons of interest in the case but had earlier stressed "that we do not believe there is a continued threat to the community."
It was not immediately clear if Dillard had an attorney.
Anyone with information on the fatality is asked to contact the Chesterton Police Department at (219) 926-1136.
