Police are reviewing surveillance video after women have been targeted--including a nanny pushing a child in a stroller--in three different armed robberies on the city’s North Side, authorities said Monday.
The robberies occurred Friday in the Bucktown and East Ukranian Village neighborhoods. The suspects, armed with a semiautomatic handgun, were driving a silver four-door Chevrolet Impala at about 12:45 p.m. in the 1600 block of North Honore Street, police said.
According to police, a gunman got out of the car and placed the handgun up to a woman and stole her purse in one of the robberies.
Chicago police Det. Cruz Reyes said he believes at least two suspects are responsible for two other very similar robberies on the same day, one at about 11:10 a.m. in the 2100 block of West Caton Street and the other around 12:45 p.m., 1600 block of North Leavitt Street.
In the North Leavitt Street incident, a nanny pushing a stroller with an infant inside was robbed at gunpoint, police said.
"We have strong suspicion that the registered owner of the vehicle possibly might know who the suspects in the case are at this time," said Reyes.
