The video shows the man get out of a dark blue or black Sadillac SRX and sit repeatedly on a fence in the area.

Police have issued a safety alert after a woman says she was grabbed by a stranger and stabbed repeatedly while walking to a CTA Red Line station near DePaul University’s campus. Sandra Torres reports.

The man in the video allegedly stabbed a 21-year-old woman multiple times around 11 p.m. Tuesday night on Webster Avenue, according to police.

During the attack, the woman says she was grabbed by the neck and was stabbed repeatedly in the upper body. Police say the man never spoke to the woman, who was unaware that she was being followed.

The man was described as being about 5 feet, 9 inches tall and was wearing all black with a hoody and baggy black pants, police said.

If anyone recognizes the man or the vehicle, they are encouraged to call 911, or to submit a tip to the police department's website.

Authorities warned residents to alert their neighbors and call 911 to report suspicious people, vehicles or activity in their neighborhood. They also said parents should avoid letting children walk or play alone and to identify "safe havens" along their routes to school and home.
