Police Searching for Suspect in Fatal Hit and Run

Police are searching for information in a fatal hit and run on the city’s North Side on Thursday night.

According to a press release issued by Chicago police, a 46-year-old man was struck and killed while riding on his bike in the city’s Humboldt Park neighborhood on Thursday evening.

The incident occurred near the intersection of Augusta Boulevard and Avers Avenue just before 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 14. Both the bicyclist and the vehicle were traveling eastbound on Augusta when the vehicle struck the bike. The man was later pronounced dead, according to authorities.

The car involved was a dark purple 2009 Saturn Outlook SUV, with license plate Z970984.

According to police, the vehicle had been reported stolen the day before, and was later found abandoned in an alley near the scene of the incident.
