Police Capture Suspect After Woman's Dead Body Found Inside Gurnee Home

After an intense 12-hour manhunt spanning Chicago’s northern suburbs, police captured a man believed to be behind the killing of a woman found dead inside a suburban Gurnee home.

David M. Brocksom was taken into custody without incident at 7:45 p.m. Sunday after he was stopped while driving toward the Gurnee Police Department. It is still unclear if Brocksom had been trying to turn himself at the time, but police said he was arrested without incident.

Earlier in the day, 43-year-old Brocksom had been described as armed and dangerous after investigators identified him as the lone suspect in the murder of woman found killed inside a home in the 3700 block of Pacific Avenue.

Officers initially were called to the neighborhood residence around 9:25 a.m. on reports of a person possibly injured inside. Upon arrival, police found the woman’s body inside the home.

The neighborhood was placed on lockdown around 10 a.m. and the area around the home was cordoned off as officers searched for the suspect.

Neighbors believe it was Brocksom’s ex-wife who was found dead inside the home, but police have only confirmed the crime was a domestic-related incident.

Children were also living inside the home but were not home at the time of the murder, according to police. Authorities say the children were later found safe.
