One person is in custody after a 5-hour police standoff on Chicago’s Southwest Side Wednesday.
Chicago police first responded to a barricade situation in the 2100 block of West 21st Street shortly before 11:30 a.m. when officers received a call of a man with a gun at a residence.
Details on what happened were not immediately clear, but officials later called for an HBT response, which stands for Hostage-Barricade-Terrorism.
Police said shots were fired in the area.
Officers remained at the scene until shortly after 4 p.m., when police were able to effectively take the suspect into custody.
