Police: Man With Butcher Knife Robs 2 Northwest Side Businesses

The man also implied he had a handgun in at least one of the incidents, police said

Police are warning businesses on the Northwest Side of two recent robberies in the Logan Square and Avondale neighborhoods.

In both incidents, a man armed with a butcher knife entered a small restaurant or convenience store and announced a robbery, according to a community alert from Chicago police. He also implied he was holding a handgun.

The most recent robbery happened at 11:05 p.m. Oct. 28 in the 3200 block of West Diversey, police said. The other robbery happened at 7:52 p.m. Oct. 27 in the 2100 block of West Armitage.

The robber is described as a white or white-Hispanic man, standing between 5 feet and 5-feet-5, weighing between 130 and 150 pounds, with blue eyes and a light complexion, police said. He was wearing beige or grey jacket with “cow spots,” a gray hoodie, grey sweatpants and black and tan mittens with a black ski mask covering his head.
