Police: Man May Have Fatally Shot Himself in West Englewood

An autopsy is schedule for Saturday for a man found in a West Englewood apartment

Police are investigating the death of a man found with a gunshot wound Friday night in the South Side West Englewood neighborhood. They believe the man may have shot himself.

The 28-year-old man was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the head at about 10:30 p.m. in an apartment in the 7000 block of South Paulina, police said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office confirmed the fatality, but did not release additional details early Saturday.

Police said the gunshot wound may be self-inflicted. An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday.
