Police release a sketch of suspect

Chicago police are linking two North Side sex assaults that occurred more than four months apart, saying the same man appears to have committed both.

Grand Central Area police have released an image of the man they believe was involved in the assaults.
 
The latest assault occurred about 4 a.m. Monday as an 18-year-old woman was walking to a CTA Blue Line station in the Bucktown neighborhood.

The earlier attack occurred Sept. 26 in the 1700 block of North Marshfield Avenue.
 
The 18-year-old victim of Monday's attack said she was pulled into a gangway as she was walking north on Western Avenue to the Western stop on the Blue Line,  Police Officer Laura Kubiak to the Tribune. 

A community alert issued Thursday reads:

Be aware of a criminal sexual assault which occurred on the 2300 block of W. Moffat on Feb. 2, 2009.

The offender approached the victim from behind and escorted her into a gangway where he assaulted her. Please pay special attention to the area.

The alert describes the offender as, "Male, black, approximately 28 years of age. 5-feet 6-inches to 5-feet 7-inches tall, 180-200 pounds, brown eyes and hair, goatee, wearing a brown waist length coat."

Anyone with additional information, is asked to call 911 immediately.
