Police Investigate Death of Man Found in Suburban Resort Parking Lot

Investigators are trying to piece together what happened to a 61-year-old man who was found dead in the parking lot of a popular suburban resort.

Just before 9:30 p.m. Thursday night, police found 61-year-old Earl Hagen lying in the parking lot of the Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles. The exact cause of Hagen’s death is still under investigation, but residents and visitors to the resort are shocked.

“You never hear of anything like that in this area,” Bartlett resident Ben Raue said. “I’m pretty surprised and shocked.”

The DuPage County coroner is working to determine a cause of death, but police say that injuries to Hagen’s upper body indicate that he may have been struck by a vehicle.

Management of the resort did not respond to requests for comment, but for many in the community, the unusual incident has them concerned.

“Of course it concerns me. We’re over there all the time,” one resident said. “They have a little theater there, and it’s a great family place.”

Anyone with information on what happened to Hagen is asked to call police, or to contact the St. Charles Police Drug and Crime Tip Line, where they can report information anonymously at 1-800-DRUG-COP.
