Police Investigate After $650K Worth of Lobster Tails Go Missing: Report

An insurance investigator reportedly said the man hauling lobster tails delivered only three of the 23 pallets to the warehouse and did not know what happened to the missing 20

An investigation is underway into the reported theft of $650,000 worth of lobster tails destined for a warehouse on Chicago’s South Side this week, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Morton Grove police reportedly said they were notified of the theft by an insurance company investigator, who said 20 pallets of lobster tails were missing from a shipment delivered to Preferred Freezer Services in Chicago this month.

The investigator reportedly said the man hauling lobster tails delivered only three of the 23 pallets to the warehouse and did not know what happened to the missing 20.

Police said they searched the tractor trailer that was hauling the lobsters and a truck belonging to the delivery driver, who refused to answer questions. Morton Grove detectives were investigating, the Tribune reported.

Morton Grove police and Preferred Freezer Services did not immediately respond to NBC Chicago's requests for comment.
