Police: 4 Ran From Vehicle After Crashing Into Chicago Home

Authorities were searching for four people who ran from a vehicle after crashing it into a home on Chicago's South Side late Friday.

The incident occurred at around 10:17 p.m. in the city's Chatham neighborhood, according to Chicago police. A 2010 Buick Park Avenue was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed on 77th Street near South Champlain Avenue when the driver lost control and crashed into the front of a residence, police said.

The family that lives there was home at the time, though officials said no injuries were reported.

"We woke up to a boom and I swear to God thought it was a bomb," said Archie Lewis, who lives in the house where the crash took place.

"This could have been somebody’s life," he continued, adding that his three children were inside the home. "That’s a bedroom they just ended up in."

Four males were seen fleeing from vehicle, police said. No one was in custody as authorities continue to investigate.
