With the heat index approaching 110 at the Friendly Confines, three different Minnesota Twins players were forced to leave Saturday’s game against the Chicago Cubs due to heat-related illness.

Eddie Rosario, Bobby Wilson, and Max Kepler were all forced from the game, and were treated with IV’s to help replace lost fluids on the scorching hot day.

“I just couldn’t catch my breath,” Wilson said. “My heart was fluttering. I felt dizzy. Started getting a headache. Couldn’t even hold a conversation in the dugout.”

No Cubs players were forced to leave directly because of illness, but outfielder Albert Almora had to leave the game with leg cramps.

“That was a pretty brutal day,” manager Joe Maddon said. “If you put that on AstroTurf, that would have been like the worst ever.”

According to the Cubs, the heat index peaked at 107 degrees during the game.
