With the primary elections fast approaching, voters may not be sure of registration dates or the period for early voting.
Here is a comprehensive timeline of important dates to note from the Cook County Clerk's Office before the primaries:
- Feb. 20: Last day to register to vote by paper application.
- Feb. 21: First day of grace period registration and voting. If you missed the paper or online registration deadline, you must register in person during the grace period. Here is a list of places to register in Cook County.
- March 4: Last day to register to vote by online application.
- March 5: First day of early voting. Early voting must be done in person.
- March 15: Last day to request a mail ballot, including military and overseas voters.
- March 19: Last day of early voting and last day of grace period registration and voting.
- March 20: Election Day. Last day mail ballots can be postmarked.
Here are dates from the DuPage County website:
- Feb. 20: Last day to register by mail.
- Feb. 21: Grace period registration and voting begin. Early voting is available at the DuPage County Election Commission, 421 N. County Farm Road, Wheaton.
- March 4: Last day of online voter registration.
