Plane Slides Off Runway at Madison Airport

Fire crews responded to Dane County Regional Airport in Madison, Wis.

A Boeing 737 slid off the runway Monday evening at Dane County Regional Airport in Madison, Wis.

NBC affiliate WMTV reported Madison fire crews responded to a call of the Delta flight sliding off the runway just after 4 p.m. in snowy conditions. No one was hurt.

Airport spokeswoman Kim Jones says Delta Flight 385 from Minneapolis was taxiing when the Boeing 737-800 left the paved surface.

Passengers were taken off the plane and brought to the terminal.

Jones said the airport was closed for about an hour while a second runway was cleared for use but has since reopened.

The snow system that hit Madison is also expected to pour up to two inches on the Chicago area by Monday night.
