Music lovers no longer have to wait until July to hear the collective indie strains of the Pitchfork Music Festival.
Fest organizers teamed up with The Art Institute of Chicago to announce the launch of Midwinter, "an all new music and art experience" on Feb. 15-17 inside the museum.
"This February, you'll be able to look at a Monet while listening to original music from Nico Muhly," said Pitchfork festival director Adam Krefman in a statement. "Laurie Anderson will occupy the same space as Georgia O’Keeffe, while the glitch-rap of JPEGMAFIA is playing in another wing of the museum."
The lineup includes Pitchfork Fest alums Slowdive, Panda Bear, Deerhunter, Perfume Genius and Zola Jesus, among others, across three days, as well as nightly performers and DJs. The 21st anniversary performance of Tortoise is also on tap.
"Midwinter expands the possibilities of what audiences can experience at an art museum, and—uniquely—at the Art Institute," said Jacqueline Terrassa, Women’s Board Chair of Learning and Public Engagement.
Tickets start at $50 per day for single-night general admission. The ticket price includes entrance to the Art Institute of Chicago, live music, recordings and "gallery soundscapes." Three-night base tickets are $127.50, and special add-on performances start at $15.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Nov. 16 at the event's website.
