The Chicago Bears are coming off of two straight victories and will be looking to get to the .500 mark when they take on the Denver Broncos at Soldier Field, and their road to victory got a bit easier Monday as Peyton Manning was ruled out for the contest.

The news came on Monday afternoon in a press conference, as Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak said that the quarterback will be unavailable for the game in Chicago.

Manning, who threw four interceptions in a Sunday loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, is dealing with a plantar fascia tear in his left foot, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN, and his absence means that Brock Osweiler will make his first career start for the Broncos agains the Bears.

Manning has struggled in a big way this season, throwing nine touchdowns and 17 interceptions in nine games, and he was especially ineffective against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, throwing four picks and getting pulled in favor of Osweiler in the second half of the contest.

As for Osweiler, the fourth year quarterback out of Arizona State has seen limited time during his tenure in Denver, appearing in 15 games and throwing for 305 yards and two touchdowns for the Broncos. He ended up throwing for 146 yards and a touchdown on Sunday against the Chiefs, but it would certainly appear that he will make his first career start against the Bears this coming week at Soldier Field.
