Persons of Interest in Custody After Likely Road Rage Shooting in Elmhurst

Several people of interest are being questioned by Elmhurst police following a possible road rage incident resulted in a shooting on Saturday. 

Police were responding to a call of a possible car crash near the intersection of York and Diversey, and when they arrived on the scene, they found a 65-year-old man inside of the car who had suffered a gunshot wound to the face. 

The man was taken to an area hospital by paramedics, and is in stable condition, according to police. 

The victim's wife was also in the car at the time, but was not hurt, police said. 

According to a press release issued by Elmhurst police, the man was shot by the occupants of another vehicle that was traveling southbound on York Road. 

A gun has been recovered, according to police, and they are continuing to review surveillance footage from York Road as they try to piece together exactly what happened.
