Authorities say that a woman was struck and killed by a semi-truck near the intersection of LaSalle and Grand in Chicago Tuesday morning.
According to police and fire officials, the 29-year-old woman was crossing the street just before noon at 100 N. LaSalle when she was hit by the vehicle in the city’s River North neighborhood.
Officers responded to the scene and discovered the woman trapped under the vehicle. She was taken in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, according to fire officials. She was pronounced dead at the hospital soon after she arrived, according to police.
The Chicago Police Major Accidents Unit was en route to the scene to investigate the crash, according to officials.
