Person of Interest in Custody in Fatal Aurora Shooting

A woman was found with a fatal gunshot wound Wednesday afternoon

A person of interest is in custody after a fatal shooting in suburban Aurora on Wednesday afternoon, according to authorities.

Police say that an unidentified woman was found inside of a home in the 500 block of South Lasalle Street on Wednesday afternoon. The woman had suffered a gunshot wound, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives immediately began treating the home as a crime scene and launched an investigation.

Just before 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aurora police announced on social media that they had taken a person of interest into custody in connection with the case, but did not identify the individual.

An investigation remains ongoing into the shooting.
