Ever since the calendar flipped to November, Chicago Blackhawks winger Patrick Kane has been lighting up the scoreboard, and on Monday he was honored by the NHL as their First Star of the Week.
Kane, who is currently tied for the league lead in points with 23 so far on the season, has had a blistering start to November for the Hawks. In four November games, Kane has scored four goals and dished out five assists, including three helpers in the Blackhawks’ 4-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday.
As it stands now, Kane has at least one point in 10 consecutive games, and he’s had multiple points in three of his last four games played.
With his four-point outburst on Sunday, Kane is on pace for 126 points this season, which would be a career high for the winger. He notched 88 points during the 2009-10 season for the Blackhawks as he helped the team to their first Stanley Cup championship in 49 years.
Dallas Stars forward Tyler Seguin (whom Kane is tied with atop the NHL scoring race) was named the Second Star of the Week by the league, and Montreal Canadiens goaltender Mike Condon was named Third Star as he excelled in relief of Carey Price this week.
