Passenger Injured When Taxi Strikes Police Squad Car in Loop

The squad car had lights on and its sirens blaring at the time of the accident, police said

A passenger in a taxi was injured after the taxi struck a police squad car that was responding to a call early Saturday morning.

The officer in the squad car was driving in the 200 block of South State Street in the Loop at about 4:35 a.m. en route to a call when the taxi crashed into the car in the middle of an intersection, police said.

The squad car had lights on and its sirens blaring at the time of the accident, according to police.

The officer and taxi driver refused medical attention, but the passenger in the taxi was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital with minor injuries, police said. She was listed in stable condition.
