CTA Honors Life-Saving Passenger

A CTA passenger was honored Wednesday for assisting a bus operator during a medical emergency last month.

Chicago Transit Authority officials on Wednesday honored a passenger who helped a bus operator shortly before he collapsed on a bus last month.

David Poell assisted CTA bus operator Donyell Robinson when Robinson collapsed on the #9 Ashland bus on Oct. 21. After Robinson's collapse, Poell stayed in contact with the CTA Control Center through the incident.

CTA President Forrest Claypool, Chicago Transit Board Chairman Terry Peterson and members of the board honored both Poell and Robinson during the main board meeting.

Robinson was recognized for making sure customers were safe as his health was in danger.

This is the first time the two men have seen each other since the incident occurred.
