All lanes were blocked on the outbound Eisenhower Expressway on Chicago's West Side for a rollover crash Friday morning, officials said.
The crash happened around 4:30 a.m. on Interstate 290 near Laramie Avenue.
The Chicago Fire Department and Illinois State Police said one person was killed in the crash and five people were transported from the scene in serious to critical condition.
As of 5 a.m., all outbound lanes were closed on the expressway. The Illinois Department of Transportation said lanes could remain closed for more than two hours.
The cause of the crash remained under investigation Friday morning.
