Outage Leaves Stretch of LSD Without Lights, Signals

The lack of lighting and signals made for difficult travel conditions as light rain and fog descended on the area

Lights and signals along a stretch of Lake Shore Drive were out for hours during the morning rush hour commute Friday.

The apparent outage began at 2 a.m. and extended from Interstate 55 to Balbo Drive in both directions of the major Chicago roadway, according to city officials. It could be seen from NBC 5’s Storm Chaser 5 beginning at 4 a.m. Lights were still out as of 6 a.m.

The lack of lighting and signals made for difficult travel conditions as light rain and fog descended on the area.

It was not clear what caused the outage or when the issue would be fixed.
