Mother Reportedly Threatens Cops After Son Arrested

Samar Hadid, 38, of Orland Park used her SUV to threaten cops, officials say

An Orland Park woman apparently upset about her son's arrest used her SUV to threaten police officers who were finishing up their investigation, police said.

Samar Hadid, 38, was charged with reckless driving, resisting arrest, and three counts of aggravated assault in connection with the May 21 incident.  She allegedly revved her vehicle's engine, squealed her tires and drove toward an officer and a sergeant standing in the roadway, TribLocal Orland Park reported Thursday, citing police.

Hadid reportedly screamed profanity at the officer and could only be removed from her vehicle with the help of another officer, police said.

She suffered minor injuries to her arms while resisting arrest and was treated at Palos Community Hospital, where she claimed that she was arrested by a Jewish officer because of her Palestinian ethnicity, police said.

Hadid's 18-year-old son, Hasan Hadid, and another teen were arrested in connection with the burglary of a home.

The mother and son were free on bail Thursday, but Hasan's alleged 17-year-old accomplice  remains in jail on $50,000 bail.

Samar is scheduled to appear in court on July 19, and the two teens are scheduled to appear on Friday.
