President Barack Obama is in for a lucrative night in sweet home Chicago.
Obama stands to earn $2 million in contributions at three fundraisers to kick off his re-election campaign.
Attendees at Thursday's first two private events will pay between $5,000 and $15,000 at N9NE Steakhouse and $35,800 at MK Chicago. Early estimates say about 225 supporters are expected to attend each shindig.
Tickets to the final, larger-scale event at Navy Pier range from $100 to $250. Student rates are $44.
Obama arrives in Chicago just after 5 p.m. Thursday at O'Hare Airport. He's expected to head straight to N9NE, then MK. He ends the evening at Navy Pier, where Bulls star Derrick Rose makes an appearance. Obama returns to his Hyde Park residence Thursday night for the first time in months.
The president's Chicago stay ends Friday, when he jets out of O'Hare around noon.
So, $2 million for less than 24 hours in Chicago? Not a bad haul.
Obama announced his formal re-election bid earlier this month. He stationed his 2012 headquarters in Chicago's Prudential Building, at 233 N. Michigan Ave., with campaign manager Jim Messina at the helm.
