Old Style Beer Sticks with Cubs

The beer will be sold at Wrigley Field for the 2012 and 2013 seasons

Chicago hipsters rejoice: Your favorite brew is sticking around Wrigley Field for two more years.

A renewed agreement between Pabst Brewing Company and the Cubs means Old Style and Old Style Light will be sold at Wrigley for the 2012 and 2013 seasons, the companies said Wednesday.

The beer, served in the ballpark since 1950, will be spotlighted next Friday, Sept. 16, during a Fan Appreciation Day at the Cubs vs. Astros game, and 62 fans will be picked to win Cubs Cash and Old Style gifts.

“Cubs fans have grown accustomed to enjoying a refreshing Old Style while catching Cubs baseball at Wrigley Field,” said Cubs owner Todd Ricketts in a statement. “I’m excited as a fan of both organizations that the Old Style tradition at Wrigley Field will continue.”

The agreement includes updated field signage, more fan events and additional promotional opportunities next season, the beer company said.

“The Old Style and Cubs partnership is one of the longest running in professional sports,” said Evan Metropoulos, co-owner of Pabst Brewing Company. “We’re extremely excited about continuing to support the community and the city’s cherished sports franchise.”
