Officials: Body Washed Ashore in Evanston

The body is of an adult woman and could be a person who has been missing from Des Plaines for “several weeks"

A body found Sunday morning in north suburban Evanston could be of woman who had been missing from Des Plaines for weeks, police said.

A person walking near Lake Michigan in the 800 block of Sheridan Road in Evanston spotted the body washed up on the rocks about 11:45 a.m., Evanston Police Cmdr. Jay Parrott said.

The body is of an adult woman and could be a person who has been missing from Des Plaines for “several weeks,” Parrott said.

Des Plaines police could not confirm Sunday afternoon if they were investigating the body.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
