The Bears starters stayed in for a quarter and showed fans the offense they have been hoping for during the second preseason game Saturday night.
Jay Cutler hit his receivers, the offensive line went through many permutations but held, and the defense disrupted everything the Redskins tried. They had three sacks and a forced fumble before the second half began.
But the real stars were three off-season acquisitions on offense.
Alshon Jeffery: The second-round draft pick made clutch catches, and ran his routes with the confidence of a veteran. When DeAngelo Hall became too physical early in the game, Jeffery didn't back down to the Redskins veteran. Though Jeffery drew a flag, it was nice to see the rookie hold his own.
Michael Bush: He was signed when the Bears were still miles apart from Matt Forte on a contract. Bush handled that situation well, and on Saturday, he handled the Redskins well. Bush had two touchdowns and showed he can bulldoze his way into the end zone.
Eric Weems: On both returns and receptions, Weems showed an ability to bounce off defenders and push for extra yardage. What more could you want?
