Man Shot in ‘Armed Confrontation' With Off-Duty Officer: Chicago Police

An off-duty Chicago police officer shot an 18-year-old man on the city’s Far South Side Sunday morning.

The incident occurred around 5:06 a.m. in the 11100 block of South Hermosa Avenue in the Morgan Park neighborhood, according to police.

The off-duty sergeant engaged in an “armed confrontation” with the teen, police said.

The 18-year-old was shot in the arm and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in stable condition.

Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson planned to discuss the incident during a news conference at 1 p.m.
