Oak Brook Neiman Marcus Targeted in Smash-and-Grab Burglary

Thousands of dollars worth of purses and sunglasses were hauled from the scene in garbage bins

A Neiman Marcus store in west suburban Oak Brook was the target of a smash-and-grab burglary early Tuesday morning.

Four offenders broke a glass window with a maul and entered the store at about 4:20 a.m. with two garbage bins. The burglars then filled the bins with purses and sunglasses and fled with about $50,000 worth of merchandise, police said.

The burglary lasted only 90 seconds and was captured on the store's surveillance camera.

Oak Brook Police officers arrived on the scene after the burglars fled.

It is unclear whether the burglary is related to the string of smash-and-grab burglaries that led to the arrest of five offenders earlier this week.
