Nuts on Clark Burglarized for 4th Time in 2 Months

Even with bars on the windows and a security system to prevent another break-in, the shop in the 3800 block of North Clark St. was robbed again

Four times in two months thieves have broken into an iconic Chicago popcorn shop.

Police have a person of interest in custody Friday morning after Nuts on Clark in Lakeview was burglarized once again just after 2 a.m., according to authorities.

Even with bars on the windows and a security system to prevent another break-in, the shop in the 3800 block of North Clark St. was targeted, police said, with robbers making off with a cash register that was later found around the corner near West Byron Street and North Lakewood Avenue.

The popular snack shop was previously burglarized twice in the beginning of April, then a third time just a week ago.

In the previous break-ins investigators said the thieves may have made their gotten in through the building’s ventilation system, but how they managed to pull off Friday’s robbery is still under investigation.
