NTSB Releases Preliminary Report in Bolingbrook Plane Crash

Security videos obtained by NBC 5 investigates shows a pilot's unsuccessful attempt to land at Clow Airport in Bolingbrook moments before it crash nearby, killing both occupants.

It comes on the same day the National Transportation Safety Board says the small plane touched down multiple times on the 3,300-foot runway as it tried to land.

The plane resumed climbing, turned left then tried to descend again before hitting a tree and light pole. It eventually crashed into the parking lot about a half mile away, bursting into flames and killing the pilot, Dr. Narian Venguswamy, and his wife, Jaye.

The NTSB has made no findings on the crash, only confirming in the preliminary report that the pilot had retracted his flaps, which is standard procedure for attempting another landing.

Why Venguswamy allowed his left wing to stall, causing the aircraft's rapid plunge from the sky is still an open question, and may never be determined.

Investigators are looking into whether the plane ran out of space on the runway.
