Northwestern to Battle Kentucky in Music City Bowl

The Northwestern Wildcats won their final seven games of the regular season, and their reward is a trip to Nashville as they’ll take on Kentucky in the Music City Bowl.

The Wildcats will be making their third straight bowl appearance when the teams face off on Dec. 29.

The game will mark the first time that the teams have played one another in nearly 90 years. Their only other meeting occurred all the way back in 1928, when Northwestern knocked off Kentucky 7-0.

The bowl is the 14th in the history of the Northwestern program, and the eighth under current head coach Pat Fitzgerald. They have won twice in bowl games while Fitzgerald has headed up the program, with wins in the 2012 Gator Bowl and last year’s Pinstripe Bowl, which was played at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

Kickoff for the contest is scheduled for 3:30 p.m., and the game will air on ESPN.
