Northwestern University will increase its undergraduate tuition for the 2019-20 academic year in what is reportedly the largest hike the school has seen in seven years.
The university announced Friday that it plans to increase tuition, fees and room and board charges by 3.5 percent.
The Daily Northwestern reports that is the ninth consecutive annual tuition hike and the largest in seven years.
That means undergrad tuition will cost $56,232, up from $54,120. Standard room and board will also rise to $17,019 from $16,626.
The university said it plans to provide more than $233 million in aid to undergraduates, allowing the university to increase funds for low-income and middle-income families.
About half the students at the university receive financial aid from the school, Northwestern Said.
