Niles North High School Evacuated for Threat: Police

Niles North High School was being evacuated Wednesday afternoon due to a bomb threat reported, according to School District 219's website.

Skokie police said they were investigating, but little information was released on the threat.

All students were being bused to Niles West High School, 5701 Oakton St., where authorities said parents should go to pick up their children.

Parents were being warned not to go to Niles North High School, police said.

“Our priority is to make sure that everyone is out of any potential harm at North,” said Niles North Principal James Edwards.

The statement posted on the school district's website said all students and staff were safe.

“We understand that this situation will cause great anxiety for families,” Niles North Principal James Edwards said. “Please know that our first priority is to keep your children and staff safe. We will share additional information as we are able.”

All after-school activities at Niles North are cancelled.
